I think Mrs. Ttyymmnn will be getting a vacuum cleaner. Which isn’t as weird as it sounds, since I do the majority of the vacuuming. I’m gonna drop some serious coin on a Miele that actually seals up and doesn’t just blow dust around the house.

I’m after the mini Griptilian. I’ve wanted a Benchmade forever but have never been ready to go $100ish on a knife. I’m pretty abusive with my EDC knife...poppin open beers with the body of it, using it for prying, as a screwdriver etc... I’ve got a Kershaw leek for everyday, and a Ken Onion ripple 2 for when I’m wearing a suit.

I’m getting a new Fitbit with the goal of losing 10lbs this winter. I’ve lost 40 over the last 3 years, but gained 5 back so I want to work on that again now that my house project is wrapping up.

I’ve never had a Fitbit last a full year, but I’m hoping the newer models are more durable.

I bought a griptilian about 4 years ago, had it for a year and lost it deer hunting, that made me feel sick, then my brothers went together and bought me an identical one for my birthday, I still have that one. I had to look that Ripple 2 up, that’s a pretty cool looking knife.

My wife and I are at that point too for large gifts. We still get each other something small that the other doesn’t know about though. I bought myself a nice floor jack this year. I’ve been making due with a $50 one from Walmart for that last 5 years. My wife bought herself a new watch.

There’s an old saying, “What do you get the person who has everything?” But for my wife, it’s more like, “What do you get the person who wants nothing?” So I always try to surprise her with something she doesn’t expect. That’s getting more and more difficult as the years pass, though.

The ripple 2 is nice, but the reason that it’s my suit knife is because it’s small/thin and its a “frame locking” blade, so if you have your fingers resting on the part of the frame that locks, it doesn’t open all the way...

I like beer too and have found a nice balance with trying to lose weight while still enjoying beer. I will only have a beer on the weekends (I used to usually have one with dinner) and I try to drink fewer beers by drinking better quality ones that are nice to slow down to enjoy.

That’s a great plan, and I can stick with something like that but rarely for a long time. I just don’t have the discipline. But I am a Pilsener guys, and I have been drinking Koenig Pilsner in the .5L cans. I like it, and I can make two cans last all night. I think there is something psychological in at the 12oz bottle. I think it is engineered to make you keep opening them by being just big enough to think you’re getting your money’s worth, while small enough to finish quickly and open another. Before you know it, you’re a six-pack down.

My son’s 5SE shit the bed last week. I ended up buying him a new one from Apple ($269, not too bad) while we continue to pay AT&T for the dead one.

I would add that it’s the first iPhone we’ve ever owned that died, and that it may be related to the screen replacement we had done at the shopping mall.

My parents got me a new couch and loveseat for my living room, which is also my birthday present (it’a in January). I didn’t really ask for it, but my mom hates my current couch that much. The local furniture store had a big sale last weekend, should be here in 5 more weeks.

As a Wisconsinite, alcohol is part of our diet. I like the Fitbit more for the app that allows you to track your calories. That’s how I lost most of my weight. I ended being very rigid with breakfast and lunch (plus no snacking) and that allowed me to have a nice dinner and drink if I wanted.

Just normal stuff like canvas seat covers and green paint... My Laptop is getting old but it was top of the line then so it hangs in there. I have a crazy Asus ROG desktop I got for VR (sold the HTC Vive) and I may just run cables across the room and put a screen on my bedside robot arm thing that my laptop can go on currently.

My wife and I basically negotiate presents whenever something amazing comes up. She wanted a cool ring and I said, ok Xmas and Bday 1 year. Her Bday is in January so they are often combined. She is also from Japan and has never celebrated Xmas before knowing me and now exploits it to the fullest!

The battery on my partner’s iPhone developed a fault and would shut off when it got around 30%. We could have gotten a replacement through the insurance, but I got him the upgrade instead. I also upgraded my 3 year old Galaxy S5 to a Note 8.
